Girls Varsity Soccer
Dear Eastern View girls soccer parents,
It has come to my attention that our fan behavior at recent games have been very critical of the game officials. this will have to change immediately. As most of you know, I get emotionally charged at times too watching so many athletic events during the entire school year However ewe all have to remember that we are the adults in these arenas and that our kids are watching and following our behaviors.
I am not saying than we have the worst soccer fans within our district. Soccer officials can hear a lot from the bleachers I have discussed with them the fact that they should not be so tuned int what is being said in the stands, but rather focus on the game play. I have worked hard to establish a positive relationship with our soccer officials. Will we get a crew that seems to to not give us all of the alls to tour favor? Yes! But in the end, we will not get all the calls go our way. In fact, the more our fans are heard making negative comments such as "your are as bad tonight as your were at Liberty" will probably work against us in the long run.
Mr. Bradshaw and I will be the first to admit that officials are FAR from perfect. we see it all year long. I even tell my coaches in preseason meetings that we will encounter game officials that probably should not be doing high school games in their respective sports. I do have frequent dialogue with commissioners advising them of which officials are not a good fit for EVHS. I will continue to be an advocate for our girls soccer program in the area. However, it makes my job a lot easier and more beneficial to our team if we an keep our spectators from getting personal and showing disrespect to game officials.
You guys have been very supportive of our girls. It is my hope that this remarkable season has a great finish to it. My only concern is that if this behavior continues, I will be forced to have one on one conversations with our fans about their freedom to attend games in the futures because of game official gets aggravated to the point where they eject fans.
EVHS girls soccer has been a solid group throughout the years. We had parents be unruly and disrespectful during the leaner years. Now that we are winning and competing at the hightest level, we need to embrace the monnet and let the girls play, officials officiate and coaches coach.
Again, I want to see this soccer season finish with all the glory for the girls. Please do your part by keeping positive and refraining from bashing game officials. Your comments and behaviors will not have any positive outcome for our team. I am not one for long emails, but thought it was important to communicate this to the entire parent group.
